Telehealth

Specialist care anywhere in Australia

Secure, Medicare-covered video consultations with our epilepsy neurologists — available to patients across Australia with no special app or equipment required.

About our telehealth service

We offer specialist telehealth consultations for epilepsy and neurology patients across Australia. Our service uses Coviu — Australia’s leading secure healthcare video platform, trusted by thousands of clinicians across the country. It is fully encrypted, requires no special software, and works on any device with a camera and internet connection.

Telehealth is particularly valuable for patients in regional, rural and remote areas, patients with mobility limitations, and for follow-up consultations where travel is not practical.

How it works

1
Get a referral from your GP
Ask your GP to refer you to Epilepsy Network Australia and note that you prefer a telehealth appointment. Your GP can send the referral via Healthlink EDI: epilepsy, fax or email.
2
We contact you to arrange your appointment
Our team will call or email you to confirm your appointment time and send you a unique Coviu link.
3
Join from any device
At your appointment time, simply click the link on your phone, tablet or computer. No account, no download, no password — just click and connect.
4
Your consultation
Your neurologist will conduct a full specialist consultation via video. Afterwards, a detailed letter is sent to your GP, usually within 3–5 business days.

What you need

  • A smartphone, tablet or computer with a front-facing camera and microphone
  • A stable internet connection (Wi-Fi or 4G/5G mobile data)
  • A quiet, private space for your consultation
  • Your appointment link (sent to you by email or SMS)
  • A list of your current medications

Fees & Medicare

Telehealth consultations are covered by Medicare with a valid GP referral, using the same item numbers as in-person consultations. An out-of-pocket fee may apply depending on the type and length of consultation. Reduced gap billing is available for Indigenous Australians.

Troubleshooting

If you have difficulty connecting at your appointment time, call us on 03 7066 4607 and we will assist you. Common issues include camera or microphone permissions being blocked in your browser settings.
